5 Ways You Should Include Candles in Your Self-Care Routine

For many people, self-care is a pretty basic activity: You take a few minutes each day to focus on yourself, your own needs and desires. For some, that means exercising or practicing yoga. For others, it means sipping tea while reading a book. And for others still, it means burning candles (possibly while also doing yoga and sipping tea). If you're new to the world of self-care, we have five ways you can add candles to your routine—and why they'll help deepen the effects of this time spent with yourself!

Number 1: Set The Mood

  • Candles can help you relax
  • Candles can help you focus
  • Candles can help you sleep
  • Candles can help you feel more comfortable (e.g., by eliminating the smell of cooking)
  • Candles can give you confidence in your space and yourself

Number 2: Find Your Favorite Scent

As you begin your journey towards self-care, it is important to find a scent you enjoy and can associate with positive memories. In our shop, we have a wide variety of scents including essential oils, candles and diffusers. Some people prefer to use these items in their homes as well as take them when traveling. If there’s ever an opportunity for me to take some time off from work or go on vacation I always bring one of our products along with me because they provide comfort no matter where I am at that particular moment in time.

Another consideration when choosing which candle or diffuser would be best suited for you is the time of year when using them will make all the difference between relaxation and rejuvenation vs stress relief! For example if summertime heat makes you feel like every single muscle aches then having something calming would be perfect while sitting outside reading under shade trees with friends enjoying good conversation over lemonade made fresh earlier today (or yesterday depending on how long ago this was written). However if wintertime snow storms leave us feeling cold from head down through toes then maybe something warm like vanilla bean would help lift spirits instead since it reminds us about baking cookies together as kids before heading off into school each morning after breakfast (or lunch depending on how late this was written).

Number 3: Brighten Up Your Space

Candles can help create a relaxing environment. Relaxation is one of the top benefits of self-care, and lighting up a candle or two does wonders for this! Not only do candles help you fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly, but they also help reduce stress. The warmth from their light can make all the difference when it comes to unwinding after a long day, especially since several studies have found that exposure to flickering lights reduces anxiety levels in people with anxiety disorders.

Many people find candles to be comforting—and that's because they are! They provide an intimate vibe that makes us feel safe and secure, while also being romantic (especially if they're scented with something like lavender). You may not realize how much impact this has on your wellbeing until you give it some thought: just try going through your day without lighting up any candles at home or work! Trust us when we say that doing so would not make anyone happy!

Number 4: Create Ambient to Your Yoga/Meditation Space

Candles are a great way to add light, warmth, and ambiance to your yoga space. If you have a candlelit yoga room or studio, candles are the perfect focal point for meditation. When you're feeling stressed out and need some time to yourself—or if you're looking for an excuse to take a break from household cleaning duties—light some candles and practice mindfulness!

Number 5: Make Self-Care Fun and Effective

In addition to the health benefits of self-care, candles can help you to relax and unwind. They can also help you to set the mood for meditation or quiet reflection. You can use them in your home or in your workplace, depending on how much time you have and what you’re trying to achieve.

Final Notes:

Candlelight is soothing and helps us feel calmer – especially when we use a candle that has a scent we love (like lavender).

Candles create a beautiful atmosphere that makes it easier for us to relax – especially if we light our candles before going into another room where there may be messy clutter like papers or dishes! The cleanliness of lighting up one single flame will make all those dirty dishes look less cluttered by comparison; plus, if these things aren’t cleaned soon enough then they will probably get worse… which means more work for us later down the road!
